TIPON

Located down the Huatanay River, south Valley of the Inca capital of Cusco, Tipon with 500 hectares approximately that served as an estate for Inca nobility. This historic agricultural site, which has been farmed and partially irrigated for more than 450 years, is a stunning civil engineering achievement by the Inca, who were masters of irrigation and hydraulic technology.

They designed buildings, waterworks, and massive structures to be visually and functionally in harmony with the natural environment. In planning a place that would integrate water, soil, agriculture, and topography, the Inca created virtual water garden that impresses all who visit. Kenneth R. Wright takes readers on a tour of Tipon's canals, plazas, aqueducts, and fountains - infrastructure that transformed a remote mountainside into a true engineering marvel. ANDAHUAYLLILLAS

This chapel with humble external aspect that keeps one of the most valuable jewels of the colonial art in Peru well knows as the "Capilla Sixtina del Peru". The ("Sistine Chapel of the Americas") the inner of the Church of San Pedro of Andahuaylillas is an explosion of Baroque art with great quantity of decorations. It was built according to the Spanish tradition, about an Inca temple, it has numerous and beautiful paintings of the Cusquenian School; its altars and wood carvings are beautiful pieces decorated with gold leaf, its colored roof of frescos is a perfect beauty.

PIKILLACTA

Pikillacta civilization existed in this region before the Incas, head to Pikillacta, a vast city of 700 buildings from the pre-Inca Wari culture, which flourished between AD 600 and 1000. Over a 2 km site you'll see what remains of what was once a vast walled city with enclosing walls reaching up to 7 meters (23 feet) in height and many two-story buildings, which were entered via ladders to doorways on the second floor. Little is known about the Wari culture, although the empire once stretched from near Cajamarca to the border of the Tiahuanaco Empire based around Lake Titicaca. It's clear, however, that they had a genius for farming in a harsh environment and like the Incas built sophisticated urban centers such as Pikillacta (which means the "place of the flea"). At the thatch-roofed excavation sites, uncovered walls show the city's stones were once covered with plaster and whitewashed. Across the road lies a beautiful lagoon, Lago de Lucre.
