No space on the inca trail, entering machupicchu via sun gate, came with us to the less touristy trek rout including machupicchu. We offer you an alternative trek. Our treks don't enter machupicchu through the famous sun gate, but we offer to enjoy your trek through the quiet valleys rich in nature, culture and isolated peaks not frecuentlly to see or camp with other trek groups.

THIN AIR OUTFITTERS Designed this expeditions TREK to offer you that during the expedition visit the two of the major archaeological sites in the Cusco city CHOQUEQUIRAO and MACHU PICCHU. The legends and knowledge of the Machu Picchu ruin are already all over the world. Since was re-discovered by American Hiram Bingham in July 1911, in 1981 the Peruvian government established The Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, in 1983 the UNESCO honored as World Heritage. The Archeological site of Choquequirao is located on the right hand side of the Apurimac River, District of Santa Teresa, La Convencion Province, Department of Cusco, here in the foothills of the Salcantay mountain chain, from where we can see the mountains or well know by the Andean people APUS Yanama, Amapay, Panta, Wiracochan, Pumasillo, Choquetacarpu, etc. CHOQUEQUIRAO is part of a complex system of cities in Vilcabamba area, among these are several archeological groups like Yurac Rumi, or Ñusta Hispana, Vitcos, Espiritu Pampa etc. all of them well connected by a network of roads that communicate with Machu Picchu Sanctuary. CHOQUEQUIRAO received occasional visitor such as : Explorers, treasure hunters, like the Peruvian chronicler Cosme Bueno mentioned in 1768, then the French Comte de Sartiges rediscovered in 1834, The French Consul in Peru Leonce Angrand Visited in 1847, Hiram Bingham visited in 1909 It was his first taste of a lost city, No many people get there because the only way to cross the Apurimac River was by Oroya (a steel cable and sling ), then was easier since COPESCO constructed a footbridge over that River which one is bellow the Choquequirao Inca site. In 1990s Roberto Samanez COPESCO Architect mapped the most important sectors on the site, The U.S. explorer Gary Ziegler who has studied Choquequirao extensively; this trek is another option for the people whose love adventure trips and you will enjoy fantastic and amazing Vilcabamba range scenery and lots of variety of Andean Flora and Fauna.
